Our Hall is available for hire

We hire for regular group meetings or one-off events such as birthday parties.

Our hall has wooden floors, kitchen, disabled bathroom and ramp off the side of the building, and air conditioning and heating, as well as a medium sized yard out the back of the hall.

The 1st Elwood Scouts is located in the heart of the Ormond Road shopping strip.
The 1st Elwood Scout Hall is located at 85 Ormond Road Elwood 3184

The Hall has the following facilities:
* Polished Timber floor
* Heating & cooling
* Kitchen with limited crockery and cutlery and fridge, microwave and oven
* 6 trestle tables seating eight people and approximately 40 chairs
* Male, female and unisex accessible toilets
* Wheelchair access through the main access door at the side
* Bench seating along the west side of the hall.
* Backyard, accessed through the kitchen, with new timber deck, pergola and grassed area
Please Note:  Our hall is not available for hire for 12 to a 30-year-old birthday or bucks’/hens night parties.  No teenage parties.

Hire Rates $45 per hour

A key return/cleaning deposit bond of $150 is required.  The bond is returned upon inspection of the hall after your event.

Longer-Term bookings are secured after contacting the Hall Hire Contact and signing a lease agreement.

All long-term hirers must have their public liability insurance – which names Scouts Victoria – of not less than 10 million dollars.  Please provide a certificate of currency from your insurer.

* Where?
The Scout Hall is located at 85 Ormond Road Elwood 3184, in the shopping strip.

* How many people can the Hall accommodate?
The hall can hold approximately 50 people, based oneightight8 close-packed tables of 6 people.

*How big is the Hall
The Main Hall space is approximately 11m x 9m

* Can I inspect the Hall?
Yes.  You can request to inspect the hall if necessary by emailing the Hall Hire Contact.

* How much does it cost?  What are your rates?
$45 per hour

* When can I gain access for setting up?
This depends on whether there are existing bookings for the same day.  When available, extra time can be booked for sett up.

* Can I book extra time so I can set up before my function?

Yes, if the venue is available.  Set up time costs the same as hire rates or part hour price.

Please ask if the venue is available before ducking in to check the hall before your booking starts.

* How do I secure a booking and when do I pay?

* Is there a security bond?
Yes.  A fully refundable $150 security bond is required.

* When am I required to return the key?
By 10.00 am the next morning unless prior arrangements are made with the Hall Hire contact.  However, for evening functions, cleaning the hall must be completed that night as others often use the lobby the next morning.

* Is the Scout Hall a smoking venue?
No, this is a non-smoking venue.  Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the premises of the Scout Hall.  Furthermore, butts are not to be discarded around the entrance

* Where is the carpark?
There is no carpark at 1st Elwood.  There is limited parking in the street.  Surrounding streets are often restricted to permit parking.

* Does the Scout Hall have disabled access?
Yes. The main access door at the side has code-compliant ramp and we have an accessible toilet and shower.

* Am I allowed to decorate the walls and the structure?
Yes, provided that all fixings cause no permanent damage and are removed.  Adhesive tape is not permitted.

* Can I hire the hall for children’s parties?
Certainly! We welcome parties for younger children, but please no; we cannot hire the hall for teenage parties for groups aged in the 12 to 30 year age bracket.

* Can I hire the hall for a bucks’ night or hens’ night party?
No, our hall is not available fohireng for bucks’ or hens night celebrations.

* Is catering available?
No, we do not do food catering.  We only hire space.

* Do you provide a PA system?
No, there is no PA system in the building, nor do we have a piano on site.

* How much noise am I allowed to make?

The 1st Elwood Scout Hall is located in a local neighbourhood area.  Therefore, we do not want hirers who are going to disturb our neighbours.  Noise and music are kept to moderate levels and contained inside the hall by keeping the front door closed. Hirers are required to be considerate toward our neighbours when returning to their cars or accessing taxis.

No music is to be played after 10:30pm in consideration of our neighbours.

* Are plates and glasses provided?
The kitchenette has some glasses and plates, but you are advised to bring your own larger groups.

* Are tables and chairs provided?
Six trestles tables and stackable plastic chairs for around 40 people.  There is seating on fixed seats along the west wall of the hall.

* Am I required to clean the hall?
Yes.  For the general hall hire fee you are, required to clean the Hall and leave it as found.  All balloons, decorations, Blu-tack, etc., must be removed. Any items used must be washed and stored away in the cupboards provided. Tables or chairs should be restacked in the storeroom as found. All foodstuffs need to be removed from the kitchen, including from the refrigerator. Floors need to be swept and mopped, and all kitchen surfaces wiped down. (Brooms, bucket, and mop are provided)   Toilet paper and hand towels need to be replaced as required from the stock held in the kitchen.  Cleaning extends to any litter or cigarette butts that may have been dropped outside the entrance.  Failure to do so will result in a charge being levied against the vital deposit (security bond).  Note: There are tenants often booked on Sunday morning; all cleaning MUST be completed by midnight for Saturday evening bookings.

* Am I required to remove my rubbish?
Yes, you are required to remove all rubbish from the premises to your own bins.  No waste is to be left on the kerbside.  We recommend you bring a few sturdy garbage bags with you.

10c Containers can be left behind should you wish to donate them to the scout group in the tub provided in the kitchen.

* Can I use the open fire?
Yes, you may light a small fire in the fireplace, but you will need to supply your wood and be prepared to take away ashes – hot or cold – as part of your cleaning requirements.  Hot ashes must NOT be put in the bins.  (We suggest bringing a small shovel and old metal buckets.) Please do not use the fire unless you are prepared to supervise it carefully and clean it afterwards.
